Post Jerry Mc Millen
Hey everyone,

Jerry Mc Millen here.

I have been playing with VW's for 20+ years. I have a 68 Bug, 2276 Turbo charged motor. I drive it on the street and have been known to have taken it a time or two down the drag strip. My best time has been a 12.01 @ 115 mph!

I have recently aquired a 78 Bus that I am bringing back to life! More to come on that!!

I also have a Powder Coating business that is a little part-time gig for now with the idea that will be a full time operation down the road. So if you need something powder coated, hit me up!!

Thanks,

Jerry Mc

Hey Jerry good to have you! I had my bus heat exchangers powder coated with a supposed 1100 degree paint and it flaked off in no time. Is there any powder coat that can handle the 500-700 degree heat of the heat exchangers and last? I am thinking that maybe the coater I used didn't prep it right.

Sorry to hear that! There are products that are rated well over 1300-1500 degrees. Surface prep is key!! Metal needs to be free of any and all rust that can be removed.

Let me know if I can help!

It's great to have Jerry join us on here! Go to his "powder-coat" thread in the "General talk" section for more info on his budding business and some photos of the work he recently did for my 36 hp engine that will reside in my '59 Double-Cab...

Man! Sounds like you let those medical folks beat the crap out of you! Just as long as you recover nicely from all of their attention! Get better quick!

Hey, you still need anything to finish off that pair of Bus backing plates that I gave you to do a while back? Eventually I'll have both a full set of 40hp engine sheet metal and a much rarer 25hp engine tin set for you to make spiffy!
