Post So this is where everybody is!
I wanted to say hello to all my old friends, and to any new ones I should make on here. My name is Rick and I live in O'Fallon MO. I am not really new to VW's but I havent been involved with the scene for a little while. I grew up on pre 67 busses with an occasional bug or bay window mixed in. Even though I developed an interest in early American customs and hot rods I never stopped keeping an eye out for a split tucked away in somebodys back yard.
I ran into a guy I know while I was at some cruise night somewhere and I was taking a pic of a cool lowered red bug with BRM's. He comes up and says if I like VW's I should check out this site. So I did and after reading a bit I realized all my old buddies are on here too! Just thinking about all those fellas brings back a ton of great memories.
The last bus I owned was a 61 Single Cab. It was a little rough but it ran good and I liked it alot but it had to go when I got the chance to pick up a car that I had been trying to buy for a while. I really like the car, but I am keeping my eyes out for a pre 61 Panel or SC.
Thats about it, hope to see some of the guys soon and thanks to Glen for telling me about this sight.
Rick

howdy stranger.

I met Rick (and Kathy) in the parking lot of a McDonald's in Florissant driving the blue bus there (but then it was brown/tan) in the winter of 19 friggin' 91.

I had a '73 Passenger bus that I was about to give up on and meeting the Babors turned that around. I guess you could say I have them to blame for where I am now. :P

Yay Rick! Welcome to the site man.

So...Rick is the guy who had a slammed deluxe bus years ago when I was bus hunting and people kept telling me about his bus and where he worked and I never could find it...I eventually caught up to him when I saw it for sale on the samba listed in my hometown of O'Fallon, MO...so I called him and said I'd love to buy it but I dont have the money...could I come look at it anyway? When he said yes I knew Rick was a good doood! Rick also makes some sick mini choppers and custom American rodz too.

Hey Rick. I sometimes think about the 33 Chevy you did. Great work. I remember the 61 SC from right before you got it and then saw it for sale. I was at Roy's and brought up you and Roy knew right who I meant. Welcome back.

Thanks alot you guys for the welcome. I would like to find another bus for cheap, but those days are gone I think. I remember every week Kent would say "Lets go check out this westy I found", or Hey did you see that Deluxe behind that house on that one road?" It was almost spooky how he could sniff them out. I also remember how Brian W would piss me off so bad when he would call my 23 window the Komluxe! HA ha ha! I wish it was still here now though, he could call it whatever he wanted -I would'nt even care!
I got alot of film from those years if anybody ever wants to kick back and watch some original reality TV, like when Brians dog ran away on the way to Neils in the Blue Ridge mountains and he says "Well, I guess Teddy lives in North Carolina now." Then he comes running out of the woods when we were pullin away and runs straight to the bus and jumps in and sits there like he's waiting on us!
Thanks again for having me on here.
