Better start jumping on those missing Westfalia pieces, as they are getting expensive just like the Campmobiles themselves. Iceboxes have gone nuts! I have a spare Split-Westy icebox in the basement that is probably worth more than my house! Have fun with the new camper.

Make a chicken coop incubator.

I am going to use this bus as a Kombi.
I have a long middle seat that is a '68 I think and also a set from later model short middle with rear. I'll need to try out both types since I have not ever had a bus with seats in it.
Vinyl with bows for the whole in the roof and store the Westy junk.
Thanks
Brian

nice thing about the short-middle-seat, u can also put it in sideways, along the long drivers wall,
so it makes an L-shaped seating area = still hauls 7 or 8 ppl, + there's a nice open area, bigger
than the size of a washing machine, which is left open at the cargo doors

That is a plus for the short set. Also they are nice including the rear but 78s I think. The long middle is a 68 deluxe but no rear.
Been working at it some here and there.
New tires
Carb work
Tweaking and driving it. Pictures from Sunday Oct 18.
Don't smoke so I emptied the ashtray finally.

Black Jesus is going strong. I replaced a broken spring and the matching one on the other side. Had a caliper lock up. Idle problem was a bad ICU. Some other stuff. Get a lot of comments and "how much?" type of stuff that vintage cars attract.
Bent the heck up out of the Smitty bumper also. Does a lot of work.

Nice, good to hear it's working out for you. How'd you bend up that bumper?

68 Westy possible Irish clues.
This bus was a North American package but exported to Ireland. Go figure
1.) has sealed vent windows. The hinge is in the wing glass frame so these could be aftermarket/owner swapped but the seals have no cutouts for hinges
2.) Intake is for a 1300 Euro dual port and the end castings are the smaller size and part numbers match 1300 dual port
113 129 701AR intake with 113 129 710J/113129710E end castings.
The id of the end castings is smaller and does not fit a 34mm(full size) dual port intake

I looked up the "vent" window parts. This is a Euro window. I am not sure what was optional there but apparently North American buses all have opening vent windows on cab doors.

Good to see you're still alive and kickin' tail down south! Love the shot of the small hawk(?) guarding it's kill.

I am just dandy. Currently going through cataloging and boxing car parts in my free time.
That is a Redtail and is one mean female. I think female because the chicken she is standing on was 10 pounds so she is actually big for a hawk
She killed one of my best hens while I was in the garden 50 feet away.
I got 7 or 8 feet from her and she just hopped around to confront me.
I got the hen and buried it while she just flew up into a tree and screamed at me.

I see you might drive your truck to the Easter show, can't wait to see some pictures from there. Those 2 were a favorite show(s) of mine.
Thanks
Brian

Starting thinking I should just put parts on this bus instead of storing them. I intend putting the Jalousie's in and the top. Going to MO Monday (not in this jalopy) so need to get ready for that to. I got mixed up with a Black Panther but that's another story.
Nod to BulliB, those are brand new Transporter LT tires.

68 Westy is coming along. The ole e30 is still kicking. I drive it a lot, probably about 2500 miles a month. Been to KC and TX several times. Water pump crapped out on a trip back from TX back in Nov. Rented a uhaul and dolly and towed it home. The water has had oil in it for a while so. I pulled the head off, had it planed down and rebuilt. New head gasket, bolts, water pump and timing belt. I've replaced a few parts, scored some really nice interior on craigslist. Also broke the rear bumper, found one in KC for cheap.
