The other part is happy enough for now.
I cleaned it and every bus deserves that little bit of love.

May as well let Mouse join the others for a minute.
Had our own show since we missed Effingham.
We were the only people that showed up at ours and there were only 3 buses, a Mustang and some old Bowtie.

Put some bumpers on a couple weeks ago.
Today cleaned the floor and generally front. Had some trouble with the shifter so dug all into it while that was out.
Some bad spots converted and clear coated the spots. The rest is some cool wax I scored with a some parts.
Thanks
Brian

Post Re: Brian in St Charles
Been working on the 67.
My evil plan was to color match the paint as if the bus is original and polished up. This required color matching and airbrushing the bad areas to match. Next I will clear the beltline down with tinted clear. The nose is done. Most of it is untouched.Nothing was done beltline up.
This is a fake since the bus was repainted in the 70s or 80s. They did some bent repair at that time and no rust work at all was done. Zero. Looks like it had a tire carrier and someone climbed on it to get to the roof rack. It was between the headlights and below the forehead. The valance and up is colission free, nice. Also the passenger door was swiped and right rear corner. The bus has been garaged since 95 so I think it was early on. They removed the glass/seals and did a total job on it. No deep mudpacks or serious collision. The passenger door and corner was bent up again along with driver door and driver rear corner. Both doglegs were kicked in the shins this second time around to.The repaint is pretty close when shined up but the whole thing will need to be stripped for an eventual total restore anyway so I just matched the respray hence "fake". This will preserve it in the meantime and the recent color match inperceptible. The engine lid does not match because early on I stripped it to the OG pearl white and cleared it.
btw
Never had side mirrors til last night, they are actually useful.
Thanks
Brian

Thanks David
It has been a lot of work but this is a very nice bus overall even though a late model. It and all the updates a split bus can have has grown on me. It spent it's life as a camper that was eventually lived in. Looks like an icebox leaking kept the short rocker wet and with dirt traffic the inner rocker is wiped out along with the top of the outer and edge of cargo floor. This all functions. Looks like the live-in punched a hole in the floor for a drain near the C pillar. Floor has some other small holes, b and c pillar base and one at the passenger seat belt mount. The front floor has a bad corner passenger a pillar base and pitting with small holes under the feet, this is from windshield seals leaking into the dirty floor. No rust work has ever been done to it.
Rust free valance, long rocker, dog legs, doors and all else. Real nice considering.
This baby was garage stored from 95 til present and came here on the way from CA in summer of 95.
Never and no evidence of salt corrosion. Best, nicest bus I will likely ever have...
but I am moving to Memphis(Olive Branch probably) soon and getting it ready for sale ASAP. I have got it real close to it's mcode as a 6 popout, no middle seat, no interior panels North American Kombi. Missing rear seat, some incorrect bits, also missing license light, speaker and little else.
So this is about the last updates to it. I wanted to share it while it is still mine. I keep trying to plan somehow to keep it but so far nothing is working out. We have two buses and this one gets the axe.
Kinda sad but I have been able to drive it several hundred miles total and enjoy it. Still am.
Thanks
Brian

Thanks Bill.
I am working on the ashtray and slider frames now.
I know the ashtray should have been first thing, my bad.

Yep, according to Youtube videos by both Roy and I, the Split-Bus ashtray is always first in! Shame on you!

All done.
Bill,
I tore the bus down completely and started over with the ashtray first. No you tube of it though, you will need to take my imagination for it:)
Heat and Defrost!!
New slider windows are nice to.
Guess I will drive the heck out of it today.
Thanks
Brian

Bill,
It is a keeper but we'll see. Although photos are what they are and today was overcast it is very likeable in person. I plan on you seeing it soon.
Thanks
