Yours appears to be built June 8 1963 which is a fairly late model 1963.

i would say its a 64 model because of the rear hatch. but wow, its probably one of the first 64 models built if you were to post a pic of the bus and the m tag on the samba i bet those guys would be arguing for days over the fact is it a 63 or a 64.

lets see more pics of the bus

First of all, welcome aboard! Hot Turkis! Needs a cleanin'

Second please don't tell me that bus is a walk thru... How does the interior and frame look?

Early '64 are the sweetest of the '64-'67 in my eyes.

SeeYa. Ted.

will be cleaned up next time i post pics. It is not a walk thru it has the split bench in the front missing the driver seat amd the middle seat in the back.
Frame is really solid as are the floors. there is some rust thru at the rockers and a little up front be the doors. interior needs redone some looks great some not so great. I'll post more pics when I get it in my garage and cleaned up.
its at a buddys house until we get it rolling. He pulled it out of a field for me.

Post the pics cornnut0711. :D

Ronnie...our eccentric bus expert in the Missouri Micros "Everywhere Ed" who actually lives in New Mexico has told me that the official VW parts book lists the bus for model year 1964 changed at VIN# 1144282 so it looks at though you have a super early 1964 bus....only about 2800 1964 buses were made before yours....just wierd that your build date is June 8th. Although VW has a history of actually installing "new" changes when stock of the "old" style ran out...sometimes a couple months early and others times a couple months late.

Either way you've got a bitchin Turkis bus doood!
Can't wait to see it.

Later,
Roy

Welcome Ronnie, great looking bus (or will be soon). I'm not too far from you, but 2 hrs. I'm north of Springfield 90 miles by Warsaw.
