Post New Guy
Hey Everyone, New to the site and just picked up a 196? bus. It is currently sitting in my buddys (who is on here too Say Hi Jason) in New Melle the same driveway that the crew cab rusted out turd was :D . By the way If anyone on here has some Wheels and tires for sale, (cheap ones that hold air for at least a few mins) or rent, or use for a day I would be interested and grateful. The bus only has 2 rims with busted ass 30 year old tires and i need to roll that bad boy into the garage.
Thanks erybody,
Ronnie

Roy that would be most excellent I will message you when i find out when we are wanting to do that.

As far as I can tell ( from the codes ) the Bus is 1963 deluxe 9 passenger. Parked under a giant tree in 1976 and been there since cuz the motor was taken out.
Will post more pics as I take them.
Thanks Guys

welcome to the site. looking at the picture of your bus its a 64 model. probably built in 63 like mine. the easy give-away is the wide rear window that was first introduced on the 64 models plus the color of your bus is also a give-away. lets see more pics. good luck with it.

Thanks for clearing that up widehatch. Me and cornnut0711 were scratching our heads because the code reads 63 but it is missing the rear corner windows. I didn't know about the color thing.

it looks like it was built in august of 1963, but the other strange part is according to a few websites in mid 1963 they went to push button door handles which this one does not have. Maybe they offered both styles at the same time while they switched over? or maybe that is a false statement? If anyone knows, i am all ears!

thanks

early 64 buses have the pull style door handles and in mid 64 model year they switched to the push button style. other things for the early 64 models were 15" wheels, the front floor heat is delivers by a square "hole" in the heat pipe rather than twin offset vents in the late 64 models.

take a pic of your M-code plate located on the wall behind the passenger seat. it had your buses birthday on it as well as option codes (m-codes) your port of entry, paint code and vin. let me guess yours starts with 117XXX. late 64 early 65 models started the vin # with 2 and had an extra vin tag on the passenger side of the fresh air vent above the windshields.

In the upper left corner is it's build date...in a year/day/month or just a day/month format.....bet it's a very early 64.

Example...the above picture's bus was born May 19 1967....hey, thats Shawns bus because it's my x-wifes birthday :?
Vin is 227126052

Ok. Your bus was build before mine. My vin starts with 117. I think mine was built in Sept.

Roy. That is just some random picture I grabbed off the samba.
