Damn fine time today, boys. I really had a blast and can't wait for our next opportunity to drag the heaps out of the bushes for another throwdown.

Thanksto all for participating and congrats to Shawn on the win!

Yes...great time at Gateway yesterday...thanks for putting that on Dave!
Got some good videos from the tower but unsure how to get off my phone and onto ACMO.
I'll get Bill to post them later tonight.

Wow what a blast we had yesterday. Crowd really loved the turbo bugs & Mitch's Ghia.

Should have known that following Al & company there that Herbie would run his @$$ off just getting there. I buried the speedo a couple of times on the way down. Here's what he was doing just past the airport.

At least there wasn't any carbon in the cylinders when we got there. 1776 powered Herbie ran 19.3 @ 69 mph. With some practice I think I can get a 18 second pass. I'll be really happy with that.

Here are some shots

Dwayne's 63 (Al's ex-street car) looking good with some color on it. Even though the color is etching primer...

In the end it came down to Al in his old street car & Shawn. Well you just gotta watch the results...

Thanks Dave we had a blast. It was surprising to be the top qualifier let alone to take the win. Hope they come back next year.

Mike Nice pics and video.

Post Re: VW heads-up class at Import Faceoff St. Louis
Since I had so much fun at this event, I'm already working on plans for next year. After chatting with Al, we think we can get a good crowd together for a couple of roadtrips where we can get the cars on the track again.

In consideration:
May-Spring Bug Run at US131 Motorsports Park near Kalamazoo, Michigan. Part of the http://www.ncvwdra.com/ . It looks like 1/8 mile bracket which isn't my favorite but I'll be hungry for anything by May; however, they have done 1/4 mile in the past events.

June- Funfest then head over to Larry's Offroad Spring Nationals near Dayton, Ohio. They're usually on the same weekend. It's bracket racing on an 1/8 mile for sure.

July- MOFOCO Bugfest at Greatlakes Dragaway near Kenosha Wisconsin http://www.greatlakesdragaway.com/index ... ge=bugfest .
This is bracket racing on a 1/4. My brother and I have raced there alot and won a series championship in '08 with our GTI in Pro-FWD in the Import Wars series. Cool track and good folks. Apparently, the owner of MOFOCO (Randy Henning) is pumped to bring this event back to it's former glory. Maybe we can be a part of it.

Aug- Maybe we can do our own event at one of the 1/8 mile tracks like Sikeston or Benton. We might be able to leach on one of the DSM events at Cordova (Quad Cities).

Sept- Hope we have Import Faceoff back at Gateway!

All of these events have racing AND carshow so it's good for everyone. None of these events have dates set except for the Funfest May31-June 2, 2013.

This is just a little brainstorming. I'm not much of a fan of 1.) bracket racing and 2.) 1/8 mile, but options may be limited. Nonetheless, we'll make it fun.

Any ideas?

I'll be down for anything half way close, Benton, sikeston, gateway... My car is finally on the ground after the torsion narrowing/swapping to irs project. It will be ready for next season.

The Import Faceoff schedule for 2013 has been released and it looks like they will be back at Gateway on August 25th, 2013.

I'm sending them a message to see if we can have another VW heads-up class.

Just thought I'd get the word out.
