Post Having trouble with the shifter....
The bug has been up and running for a bit.
i still cannot get the shifter to work right. I'll bet that the spring/plate combo is installed incorrectly.

Anyone in the Mid rivers Mall area that can take a look?

Also, there is a new joint on the shift rod at the tranny and a new plastic guide installed near the shifter.

Right now it is locked up in 1st gear. the shifter moves left to right a little but nothing forward or backward.
I pulled the cover at the rear joint in the back seat and it moves slightly like the front.

The car moves again.

The fix for my lockup issue:

I Bought a 17mm hex socket at harbor fright. (set was $14.00)
On drivers side of tranny above the frame there is a hex cover (inverted bolt) that this socket will fit in to unscrew.

While the wife pushed in the clutch and wiggled the shift handle, armed with a LARGE screw driver I pressed forward toward the front of the car the only thing I could feel the screw driver reach and push against. It slid about 1".

That freed up the bind.

Car shifts again. Very loose and crappy shift pattern but it drives.
Still looking for someone to help set it up properly.
