Keep moving around the adjustment plate and see if you can find the sweet spot.

Yep, I usually tighten the shifter down but not all the way so the plate can still move. Put it in reverse, then tighten it down and it's usually pretty damn close to everything going in gear correctly.

Had everything together and the engine had one heck of a squeal. Ended up swapping the carb gasket. Found a washer hanging out under the old one may have been part of the problem. Adjusted the shift plate still trying to narrow it down. I will be taking out tonight for another test drive.

Yes. Put in the new gasket and found the sweet spot on the shift plate good to go. Put 470 miles on it this weekend went up to nemo and back. I have a couple electric issues to work out but I am pleased with the performance.

So after putting the bus together and taking a 500 mile trip. The #4 exhaust valve had enough. Pulled the engine again, broke it down and took it to the shop new heads and Pistons on the way. :oops:
