Post 65 Bus project.
Trade my 70 single cab for this 65 bus this weekend. Little rust in there.

That SC doesn't look too bad. Feel like it was a fair trade?

That old single cab was a pig wearing lipstick. It was real rusty and was titled as a 70 kombi. Daniel my go to VW guru said let the deal go down. I feel good about it I wasn't too deep in the SC.

Cool, I thought that might be the case. You'll be deep into the split by the time it's over. Lots of rust repair to do there. Good that they have doors, bumpers, glass and most of the little stuff.

Walkthru seats are tough to find and pricey but not as bad for late split as early is. The 65 looks to be your best candidate for a builder but I'm sure you've figured that out. 8)

Welcome to the world of splits. Score on the seats!!! Just need some metal work. Long rocker on the 65 doesn't look terrible, hopefully the inner isn't rusty but it probably is. Would be nice if it just needs cargo rocker and outer floor on the cargo side, and not have to get into out riggers, ibeams, tophats and center sections. I'd say out riggers at least will probably need replaced. Front floors are easy. How's the nose? Looks dented but will pop out some, rusty in the lower/inner valance?

There a close up of the nose. It's definatly gonna need a lot of wire. I may get them both cleaned and rolling see if I can upgrade those for a little better one. Main thing is I have them. Here some from the under side. The last one is the worst of all.

The picture of the roof rot is the worst one. Not a good deal on that part.

The roof was going to be my next question. Thought that area looked rusty from the first pics. Roof rot sucks to fix correctly. If you just want to be driving a split, yeah aluminum tape does wonders. Just patch the front floors, fix the card rocker/outer cargo floor. Push out the nose dents with a football. Leave the long rocker dent/gash, leave the rear upper drivers corner gash. Aluminum tape up the roof rot and any other small holes. Make it a driver and roll it. Maybe sell as a driver later and sell the church bus too. Take the money and roll into a better split.

Takes work and planning to get into splits now days. I bought my current bus the '60 So23 for $400 back in '97, those days are gone. Or that old green '65 EZ Camper, gave $1500 for it in almost driver status in like '03 and still felt like I paid too much. I think that $1500 is the most I've ever paid for any VW. They're all POSs, even the nice ones.

The football trick does wonders. Yea JB weld, aluminum tape, silicon on that roof be good as rusty gold. Barrett Jackson and the scrap metal price soar killed the junk car market.
