Bump! We miss you Roy and Dawn...

What adventures have you been up to lately? I keep hoping I'll get another PHX trip, but not so far. I am seeing a lot of Lubbock, TX and Las Vegas... You guys still planning on coming to BNNTA #29 with that awesome Deluxe???

Not much for adventures in the bus lately...been helping a friend with some rust repair on his 65 kombi walkthrough and doing a lot of grandbaby sitting but I did manage to give the bus her first waxing. Got some new parts for my 2110cc engine arriving today...just waiting for Al to send me a re-machined case and I'll start thrashing it back together. Meanwhile I have the trusty old 1641cc in the bus and I made a tool to cut Solex carbs for new bronze bushings and rebuilt three 34 Pict-3 carbs. I recently pulled the dual Weber 34's off the 1641 and installed a single solex...runs very well and my head temps are way lower now. Yesterday I started replacing the old steering box with my original 65 deluxe box rebuilt by Wolfgang Intl. Found some play in the center pin and I'll be replacing it this week too.

The next adventure is in two weeks to a campout in Flagstaff but I do plan to drive the old girl back to Missouri for BNNTA next month. Got a couple friends driving a 59 dormobile on the trip with me but Dawn will not be going...she has school and can't miss any.

Looking forward to humidity, mosquitos and the Missouri Micros!

Roy, you using the old "Karate Kid" method on that bus or do you have a nice orbital waxer? Buses work great for them…..lots of big flat panels :!: Looking forward to seeing you at Buses…..until them stay cool and well save you a few mosquitos and chiggers 8)

Thanks guys !
Nope...it was a hand job no electric waxing involved.
BTW...correction on my above statement...as of right now...my friends that are driving with me to BNNTA...are planning on driving the freshly completed Jerome Jamboree raffle bus that we are giving away in september.

Awesome! I'll be driving that Transporter to the Jerome Jamboree (my first!) and sleeping in it there up until the moment on Sunday at the Jamboree when my winning raffle ticket is pulled, and then I get drive it home! So I get to check it out before the AZ sleepover!

We are so excited to have you back for a little while in late August!

I'm pretty sure IIRC that Roy said last year that the Arizona Bus Club requires that the raffle Bus winner has to present at the Jerome Jamboree event to win/accept the raffle Bus. People asked him on here last year to buy them tickets, and I think he refused on the ethical grounds. He'll pop on here to explain eventually. Besides, I'm gonna win it anyways... well, maybe?

At least I'll get to drive to the J.J. and sleep in it...

Might be that way?? Worth a try.
The one year I went the guy that won the bus was not there...but his friends were there with his ticket,so I guess that counts?

Anywho, looking forward to seeing ya Roy J

Yea Mike...he is subliminally and consciously being brainwashed to be a VW pilot :)

Oh and....aparently there is some adversion from many of the AZ Bus Club members on the raffle bus making the 3000-mile round trip to BNNTA only 2-weeks before we give it away...so it won't be going ;(

Sorry peeps..I can't buy and hold raffle tickets for you...the other 500 people with loosing tickets get a little satisfaction by seeing the face and shaking the hand of the lucky winner. You must be present to win so fly out and win this beast and take that 1500-mile road trip home with it.

We are so excited to have Roy coming in his '65 Deluxe back to Missouri to both visit his family and attend BNNTA in a few weeks from now! It was great to talk on the phone with you yesterday Roy! Bring the little guy riding shotgun with you for all the fun! I'll bet he already knows how to party with Grandpa!

Safe and fun travels wishes to both Arizona-based Buses out on the road!

Roy,

I have a pile of misc Allen wrenches that I have collected from various purchased items that needed assembly and the correct Allen was included. Was going to recycle them but I thought you could use them on some of that fine junk art you create. If you want them I'll pack them to Busses and give them to you.

Look forward to seeing you and your new powered bus at the end of the month.

Dana
