 great news today!!! after at least 8 hours and countless afternoons my windshield wipers in my 63 herb are finally working again....i don't care if it snows all week long...i'll just wipe it away! I ordered and installed all new pivot arms and different shafts and a different motor...but finally it was the rheostat. Thank goodness....I know it sounds petty, but these wipers have truly been a pain in the ass and I am so happy that they are working....(for now)

Working wipers are awesome Darla, is the '63 your daily driver?

Last night I finally finished grinding the seam along the firewall and rear wheel tubs where my donor floor/cab was attached to my rusty ass samba. Threw some primer on the raw metal and flipped the bus back upright on the rotisserie. It's been a couple months that the poor thing was on it's side or roof...all the oil was rushing to it's head. All the extra "storage" space in my garage is screwed when the bus is flipped. Radio hole donor dash and spare tire well install are the next items on my list. Trying to have it ready for paint or even painted by June. That'll give me 3 months of assembly before BNNTA. And during the next 7 months I'll figure out how I'm going to raise the estimated $5K I need in rubber, glass, vinyl, upholstry, brakes and tires. Fortunatly I have the engine, tranny, beam, seat frames and all but the 2 windshields in glass.

Roy let me know if you need a hand in the assembly. Same goes for Shawn and his bus. It's about time I get my hands dirty on a split.

Sunday I started Herbie for the first time since Shawn's garage party. (fired with a couple taps of the pedal and the turn of the key) Ran him for about 15 minutes before I took him for a quick spin around the block. -They don't salt my subdivision. I CAN'T STAND THIS COLD, BRING ON SPRING!!!

First oil change for the new engine today and it looked real good, albeit a bit white from all the frozen moisture that doesn't seem to be evaporating since its rarely been above freezing for weeks. Hope to get some VW work done in the next couple days as it creeps into the high thirties: warm!

Absolutely nothing the past few weeks. Cold weather= no motivation.

Way to go dARLA on the wipers. Even at best, bus wipers still lack.

Treated myself today. Ordered wolfgang safaris for my riviera camper and a bunch of odds and ends for the patina bug. I am thinking it is everything left that I needed to put the thing back on the road.... Except tires. Not inspired to work on anything in this cold but atleast I'm moving forward I guess

There is a huge difference between weather and climate. Global warming predicts more moisture and erratic weather patterns. Stop watching FOX news and its spew of short-sighted idiocy. Maybe you who refuse to think should watch the link below? Frankly, I'm so tired of these ignorant comments. Fact: there are billions of people on this earth (too many) putting all kinds of new chemicals into the soil, water, and atmosphere. We are currently experiencing one of the largest species die-offs in the history of this earth, sourced from human activity. Humans have eradicated 80% of the forest on this planet, which -among other things- converts CO2 (a greenhouse gas) to O2. There is no way considering that and with all of the combustion going on in this world (CO2) that we cannot be altering the makeup of our atmosphere (remember CFC's and ozone depletion??). Sorry DB I love ya', but not only do I not agree with you, I think your position is complete madness.

Don't stress David. We all know how K is on these boards (especially since he's been cooped up without camping). It's an easy subject to get passionate about too.

Regardless of whether or not you feel the evidence is there for man made emissions causing climate change, there is a simple fact that our population keeps rising and the ecosystem can not sustain forever. The more space we sprawl over, the less there is to keep the climate "natural". Eventually, we'll have to do something, even if it isn't on this specific topic of climate change.

That being said, I don't see any electric conversions or strict emissions guidelines being followed on his vehicles  , or mine to be fair. Then again, buying antiques means we're not causing a new car to be manufactured right? Who knows.

Sorry for the confusion DB, but yes C, bored and tired of being inside. Cabin Fever has progressed to the verge of insanity. Gonna go put my Eskimo outfit on and get outside.
