I was bitching about 2 brand new junk CV's I wasted a bunch of time with. Craig at Roy's actually apologized, but its not his fault, its Caleb's for not buying the German ones ;).

How much are the German ones and who carries them?
With my bay being lifted...a failed cv is always looming in my mind.
I'd like to keep a spare axel with packed cv's stashed in the bus.

Roy Rogers is the local VW parts store.

I'm certain there is an alternative to the cheap EMPI/OE Chinese brand. I think the German ones are $80 and the Chinese are a little less than half that. I bought German type 4 CV's from B&C a year or so ago.

Damng chinese Crap ... K's wasted time Far
more than outweighed the 'cheap' first cost.

I held up my credit card and said, I need CVs for a 74 bay and grease and boots if they're not in the box. That's what they gave me. Shame on them for not even trying to upsell. Shame on me for not saying "Kevin warned me about the Chinese ones. Are these them? Do you have ones that aren't crap?"

Bus drives smooth with no knocking. So nice to be freezing my ass off in my buss again. Thanks again K!

I think the idea should be buy the good stuff when you can find/afford it and slowly put the cheap shit out of business. Its hard sometimes b/c now that everyone buys the cheap shit, its even cheaper, and the nice stuff is more expensive.

That's Roys for you. They know I'm a pain in the ass and always hunt around for the best stuff they can find. I've been happy with them for that reason. They know the craps crap, but they think that's the only thing the cheap-ass Springfieldians will buy. Customer demands cheap, then that's what they sell.

Cheap crap cheap crap cheap crap...

That's exactly how our only local VW parts shop "Archway" thinks...cheap crap on the shelves. I their defence that's the mentality of most the VW people here in the midwest used to buying everything made in China cheap.

I've had good luck with Bus Depot for my baywindow. They seem to carry a "choice" of China or German with reasonable prices and actually having it in stock with no backorders. Being in Pensylvania...stuff gets here pretty quick and shipping is cheaper than from the west coast.

i get Most of my vw parts from Eric/Jenn at Bughaus,
Mainly because it is right around the corner from me,
walking distance. But they do a lot more on-line biz
than walk-ins, & the FedEx guy is there twice a day.
If he doesn't have it, he can get it, plus he is a real
bug / bus guy; always recommends the 'good' stuff.
best...db

DerGerman Motors in Tulsa is very good, also, but i
dunno if they do the onLine stuff ...

I buy most of my performance parts from Places like CB performance, Rancho and so far I have used WW for the bus stuff and I will say that I have been happy with most of the parts I have bought. I will pay more for good quality before i will buy the cheap crap.
